Sonja Lishchynski

Sonja was fortunate to grow up in the loving presence of companion animals. From dogs, cats, parrots and even fish; her childhood was peppered with the responsibility and comfort of family pets. These companions were the only constant friends in a life of perpetual change. When her college years made it impossible to have an animal in her life, the vacancy left a shocking void. As soon as she was able to, she brought as many as she could responsibly care for into her life. When time came to give back to her community, pet related charity work was the only path she could logically follow.
In her spare time, Sonja sails and scuba dives, volunteering for organizations that work tirelessly for the welfare and rescue of coral reefs and their inhabitants.

Nadine came to the world of companion animals later in life as an already established young woman. The immense impact adopting her cat Cosette (named after the orphan in Les Miserables) had on her life was more than she could have ever speculated. In the constant moves from one continent to another, in her long and dedicated studies and finally in her hectic day to day, the presence of unconditional love when she walks through the door at the end of the day changed her forever.
A consummate sociologist and history lover, Nadine volunteers for Earthwatch. Helping humans understand their past and present by working closely with international research groups and archeologists to unearth our origins so we may step forward with the lessons learned from our history, as well as saving endangered species.
